In addition, the American Gem Society (AGS) was founded in 1934 by a small group of leading jewelers. They too have a respected lab, although not traded as well in the industry as GIA. They provide a variety of benefits that include detailed information on diamonds, gemstones, diamond grading standards & grading reports. They are considered the ethical branch of the jewelry industry, which only a small percentage of retail stores have the training and/or standards to meet their requirements.
